Complete rear leaf spring conversion kit designed for Chevy Astro and GMC Safari vans originally equipped with single-leaf fiberglass composite rear springs. This direct-fit kit converts the factory composite spring setup to a multi-leaf steel spring system, increasing load capacity, durability, and ride stability.
Vehicle Applications:
(1985-1995) Chevy Astro Van – 2WD, 4WD, AWD (replaces original single-leaf fiberglass composite springs only)
(1985-1995) GMC Safari Van – 2WD, 4WD, AWD (replaces original single-leaf fiberglass composite springs only)
This complete rear leaf spring kit is a direct bolt-on replacement for factory fiberglass composite rear leaf springs found on Chevy Astro and GMC Safari vans. The kit retrofits to existing rear suspension brackets with no welding or drilling required and replaces both sides of the rear suspension using identical right and left leaf springs.
Leaf Spring Specifications:
Spring width: 3 inches.
Front eye length (S.E): 25 inches.
Rear eye length (L.E): 29-1/2 inches.
Leaf configuration: 3 main leaves at .291 steel gauge with 1 bottom leaf at .447 steel gauge (3/1, 4 total leaves).
Spring arch: 4-1/4 inches.
Pack thickness: 1-7/16 inches.
Capacity rating: 1,410 lbs per spring, 2,820 lbs combined capacity when used in pairs.
Design & Fitment Details:
Leaf springs include front and rear pressed-in leaf spring eye bushings. Designed for applications using 9/16″ x 4-1/2″ Grade 8 rear leaf spring eye bolts. The front leaf spring eye seats into the original GM hanger and is secured using a bottom plate cap for proper retention. Right and left rear leaf springs are the same for simplified installation.
Performance Benefits:
This kit increases rear suspension load capacity by approximately 1,000 lbs over the factory fiberglass single-leaf springs. Provides improved durability, load handling, and ride control while maintaining factory mounting points. Installation is straightforward with no fabrication required.
Kit Components Included:
(2) New steel rear leaf springs, 3/1 configuration (4 leaves total).
(4) New rubber retrofit front leaf spring eye bushings, non-press slide-on style for front eyes.
(2) New outboard U-bolts with deep nuts and washers.
(2) 9/16″ x 4-1/2″ Grade 8 leaf spring eye bolts with lock nuts and washers.
(4) 7/16″ x 2-1/4″ Grade 8 half-moon bolts with lock nuts and washers.
Installation Notes:
One kit replaces the complete rear suspension on both sides. Designed to retrofit to existing leaf spring brackets, hangers, and shackles. Direct bolt-on installation with no welding or drilling required.

We know mistakes can be made when ordering. We are happy to accept any UNUSED, UNALTERED products back within (30) days of your purchase date. (Kits need to be returned as a complete kit, we cannot accept returns on partial kits). FREE SHIPPING Products will also have a $12.50 return processing fee applied. All returns must have a Credit Memo included. Ship the products back to us and once we receive your unused, unaltered product we will refund you the product cost. If you wish to return unused, unaltered products after 30 days we will have to charge a 15% restocking fee. If you wish to return unused, unaltered products 45 days after purchase date we wil have to charge a 25% restocking fee. We cannot accept returns on any products 60 days or older after the purchase date.
